We’re going to just take a few moments to review the story of Ephesians. We’ve been trying to set the entire letter in its context each evening as we’ve gathered. Remember, the Epistle to the Ephesians is written a few years after Paul’s ministry in that great city.

Now notice something very interesting. Near the beginning of the first half of his letter, Paul shares a portrait of the exaltation of Jesus in heaven.

Let’s pause for a moment just there and particularly look at the unifying virtues and behavior that Paul is advocating in verse two.

Now, please notice something carefully with me. Humility is not a negative virtue of self deprecation.

The second virtue is gentleness. The Greek term here means courtesy, considerateness, meekness.
